Red Rover, Red Rover, Send the New Girl on Over

Hi everyone! There's lots going on the Jed household.

The other day, a Willy-Nilly Waterlily owl arrived by surprise! We were quite amazed to hear that he flew all the way from Tennessee. He was carrying a little suitcase and asked to live with us.

His name is Mr. Somo and he is our new, sweet owl friend. We will take good care of him, Someofmyorange! Thank you so so so much!


So, of course, Mr. Norbert, Mr. Owly, and Mr. Somo got to playing right away. They raced up and down the hall. (Don't owls know how to fly? Perhaps they should take flying lessons from Jillybug's girls.)


And then they raced right into a surprise - the new girl. She hasn't told us her name yet, so she's just New Girl for now.


They helped her get de-boxed since they are such curious little owls. They also picked out a little owl outfit for her, made by our friend Louos.

Uh oh, it looks like Mr. Norbert, Professor Owly, and Mr. Somo are quite taken with New Girl!


New Girl quickly made herself at home...

New Girl: * Da da da dee... *


Me: New Girl! You're sitting way to close to that TV!

New Girl: * bleary-eyed * Really?


Me: See, you gotta sit back here and relax while you're watching TV...

New Girl: Oh, I see. Do you think that we could watch Barney now?

Me: No... I'm the older sister. I control the remote.


Well, I gotta go find a place for New Girl to sleep and tuck her in! It's tough being the older sister.

Project Preparation B

You know, if computer people measure work by the lines of code they write, wouldn't you say that ironing and sewing could be measured by the pile of thread that you accumulate? If so, mommy and I were busy busy busy today!

We're busy on Project Preparation B (Becca and Blythe). Only 2 more weeks until Becca, Gracie, and the rest of the bunch visits! Yaaaay!!! So exciting!

Zelda: * whistling a tune *

Me: Zeldy-pants! C'mere a minute! I need to measure something!


Zelda: Are you sure you know what you're doing?

Me: Oh, of course! I just wrap this around your head, right?

Zelda: Umm... I'm not sure that's how measuring tape works. Maybe I should take over...

Me: Nah - I'll figure it out...


Me: Huh... Uh... * scratching head *

Me: Moooooommm! C'mere a minute!!! I need heeeeeeelp!!!


Luckily, mom trudged over and helped me through the rest. She snapped Picture 26/365 of the 365 Days Blythe Project to remind me of all the projects I start and make her finish. We'll be working on more tomorrow. I hope it'll be ready then!

And guess what else? Mr. Norbert has some new friends! Yay! I am pleased to announce the arrival of Professor Owly and Pinky Bun Bun.

Professor Owly and Pinky Bun Bun are also from the talented Willy-Nilly Waterlily and are quite the talkers. They've been chatting up Mr. Norbert, telling him all about how Loovee and Gachapin are doing back in Hawaii. Mr. Norbert is so comforted to have Professor Owly and Pinky Bun Bun here since he does miss Loovee and Gachapin terribly.


In other news, I hope to get mommy moving on the rest of the house soon. Zelda and I have our bedrooms, but everything else is still in shambles. She just took her test on Saturday, so no more excuses. We need a bathroom! I gotta drop some kids off at the pool, you know!

Oh! And our new sister is on her way. Mommy says that there is a room all picked out for her already. She better not stick the new girl in my room. I don't know that she'd like my pet beetle much.

Our Sweet Valentine

Happy Valentine's Day!

Did you know that we have an incredibly sweet Valentine? Guess who it is... Nope, it's not daddy (even though we do love him the world over)... Mommy's lovely Valentine is the amazing Ellewoods!


Ellewood was our Blythe In America Valentine's Day swap partner and we were stunned by her amazing gifts.

Thank you so so so much, Ellewoods! You are so incredible and sweet! (And thank YOU Gina2424 and Lucyspostcardquilts for organizing the swap!)

Ellewoods gave us chocolates (mommy has already eaten all but one of them), dresses, hats, pets, Re-ment, hangers, and a personal portrait of Zelda and I. We love everything!

Our favorite part is the portrait that Ellewoods sketched of us - it is incredible! We are so touched. Mommy promised us that she'll frame it soon so that we can put it up on the wall.


And she somehow just knew what Zelda and I would like. Look at how amazing these outfits are!


One dress in particular called out to me very loudly and clearly. It is so perfect! Mommy snapped Picture 25/365 of the 365 Days Blythe Project while I was trying it on to remind us of our amazing Blythe friends.


Butterbear, Mr. Mollibunny, and Mr. Brownbear quickly claimed the pups that she sent. Butterbear says he's amassing an army. I'm not sure what for, but I guess bears will be bears.

Nothing Like a Sister's Love

Zeldy-pants seemed a little sad today... So I tried being sisterly. I'm not so good at it, so I did my best.

Me: What's wrong, Zelda?

Zelda: I wish you'd stop picking on me sometimes.


Me: Aw, come on. You know I'm just teasing. Let's go on a walk.

Zelda: Um... OK...


Me: See, don't you feel better now?

Zelda: Yeah, I guess so. Thanks! I'm glad you're my sister.

Me: Me too. Me too... * pat pat *


Don't worry! No one was around to kick Zelda, so it was just all in good fun.

Mommy made that first shot Picture 24/365 of the 365 Days Blythe Project to help her remember me as not the naughty girl I am, but the good girl she wants me to be.

To make up for my mischief, mommy made Zelda a headband (inspired by Willy-Nilly Waterlily and Bijoux Blythe). I think Zelda liked it a lot. It makes her feel like a princess! Mommy says thank you for the tutorial, Rima. You are so kind!



Today was a great day for mommy and daddy. It really made up for all the craziness with mom's work and school from the past week.

Mom and dad spent all day together, catching up and having a wonderful time together. Early in the day (which is 1pm to mommy), they ate lunch at Atlanta Bread Company and then stopped at Cumberland Mall. Not the greatest restaurant or mall, but mom and dad didn't mind.

At the mall, mom stopped by the T-Mobile store to get a new SIM chip (the old one got fried) and stopped at Macy's to check out the Martha Stewart Collection. Mom has a love-hate thing for Martha. She isn't too keen on how mean Martha can be to people, but is in love with her taste in color and style.

Here is mommy's new Martha Stewart-branded cupcake taker (made by Wilton).


It doesn't have much in the way of capacity (only 12 full-size cupcakes), but it is very nicely done. The cupcake tray is a pretty color of robin's egg blue, has two sides (one for full-size cupcakes and one for minis), and is removable (for sheet cakes).

Cupcakes = love.

Happy Chinese New Year!

Happy Chinese New Year, everyone!

We hope everyone is blessed with lots of prosperity, good fortune, and happiness in the coming year.

Mommy tells us that 2008 is the year of the rat. Rats are intelligent, shrewd, and meticulous - traits which will be useful in the coming year as the economy heads for stormy seas. Mommy says that ups and downs are the natural order of life and that's what makes it interesting.

Mommy snapped Picture 23/365 of the 365 Days Blythe Project to commemorate the new year. We weren't able to snag one of Jooli's gorgeous samfoo creations for this year, but mommy says she's working on getting us some outfits for 2009. Yippee!


Zeldy wanted in on the action, too, so here she is!


Last night, mommy stayed up late (9 am in Helsinki is 2am here in Atlanta) so that she could try to snag us some more Euro Trash kitty helmets. But, alas, she was quite unsuccessful. Ruth's helmets are so awesome that they sold out in under a minute! Mommy needs to really work on speed-clicking. We need two more Euro Trash helmets!


In other news, life always manages to work out in peculiar ways. You may remember that mommy had a big decision a while ago.

We couldn't say much before, but here's the scoop. Lately, mommy's managers have presented some opportunities for her to gain more experience in areas around the company.

The first opportunity was fantastic, but was quite a big step and mommy didn't feel that the timing was quite right. She wants to accomplish some more things before taking that step. In the end, it all worked out because the spot was already close to being filled by the time mommy was approached. It just wasn't meant to be.

Interestingly enough, the closing of that door opened another door. Mommy is nervous still, but she knows that this will be a good opportunity to develop important skills for the future. We are going to cross our fingers and toes for her that it all works out.

Mommy says thank you so much everyone for all the well wishes! She's definitely feeling much better these days. Things are still a little bit wonky, but I think mommy was just built that way.

Mommy owes lots of people messages, emails, and phone calls. This weekend, Zelda and I will bug her until she gets back to all of you! She does miss everyone and really does mean to catch up with you all soon.

This week (all two days' worth of it) has been both blazing by and creeping along. It's so strange that a day can seem both long and short at the same time. Mommy is utterly exhausted and hopes to get back to some a normal schedule soon.

Today's schedule:
9:15 am - Get to work
2:00 pm - Eat lunch
7:15 pm - Go to class
9:45 pm - Eat dinner
10:00 pm - Go back to work
11:15 pm - Come home
11:45 pm - Shower
12:30 am - Take pictures of me
1:00 am - Do homework
3:00 am - Help me blog

Eeeps! What a nutso day!!! Good thing mommy has Zelda and I to cheer her up. Daddy's a peach too - the peachiest of them all.

We're going to make this Picture 22/365 of the 365 Days Blythe Project. Hopefully, it will prompt Father Time to be kind to mommy for the rest of the week.

Anyway, we hope that everyone is doing well out there! We look forward to catching up with you this weekend.

In the meantime, Zelda and I will do our best to buy mommy some time. Do you think they sell it at the corner store?

Aaaaaaand We're Back!

Hi everyone! We're baaaaaack!!!

We've been gone for so long, I don't know how many people are reading anymore. Hope there are still a few of you guys!

Mom is finally back to almost 100%, which is awesome because now she can get back to indulging our whims.

The first item on the list was to get the new dollhouse! And I'm happy to report that mom has followed orders with the first task.

She dragged daddy to Ikea to get the Granemo cabinet we've wanted. In exchange, we all gave daddy hugs and kisses and mommy promisd to never ask for pink or purple walls ever again.

There's a lot to do yet, but at least the living room is mostly finished.

The wallpaper is up and the furniture has been placed, but there are some details missing. We're really hoping that she polishes it up a bit more. We need rugs and updated furniture. We need some Krylon Fusion, stat!

We might as well call this Picture 21/365 of the 365 Days Blythe Project. Hopefully, more interesting pictures are forthcoming.




Some additional updates...

Last weekend, Auntie M and Jessica were really cool to take mommy to a mini-meet at the Northern Star Coffee House. Mommy could barely walk, but the power of Blythe makes all pain bearable.

Sorry for the horrible pictures! Mommy has obviously forgotten how to use a camera. I forgive her, though, because she bought me some awesome owl clothes from Louos. Yay!
