Turkey Lurkey Doo...

"Turkey lurkey doo and
Turkey lurkey dap
I eat that turkey
Then I take a nap"
- Adam Sandler, The Thanksgiving Song

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Mom and dad went to see Gramma and Grampa P down in good ol' DeeeeeeLand, Florida. It was a long car ride, but I was a good girl. I kept my shoes on the whole time.

While we were there, mom and dad stopped by Won Lee to take pictures.

Dad: *taking boring old pictures*
Me: Dad! Dad! Dad! Can I be in the picture? Dad! Dad! I want to be in the picture! DAD!

Dad: *sigh* OK, Molli... Get in the picture...
Me: Can you see me good?
Dad: *sigh* Yes. We can see you very well.
Me: Are there boogers in my nose?
Dad: *sigh* No. There are no boogers.

And you know what else? I'll bet there is a cheesiness test to become a certified grampa. Not only is Grampa J cheesy (remember the fun-guys joke)... Grampa P is cheesy as well! See?

After that, mom and dad stopped at the Family Book Shop to browse. Among all the things that mom and dad like, they really like books. While dad focuses on science fiction and classics, mom reads silly things like Ramona the Brave.

Then we went for a mini-meet with Sarah at Bellini's. Mom loves Bellini's! She's been going there for at least 20 years now. The food is delish and it's been family-run since it opened. Yay - support small businesses!

So Mom and Sarah met on a Flickr Re-ment swap group. We traded some appliances for her breakfast set. Yippee!

Sarah introduced us to Dolls of DeLand. What an interesting place! It's mostly porcelain dolls and what-not, but the lady that runs it is really nice.

After that, mom and dad hung out with Gramma P. They bought a terrific pizza from their friend Manuel at Angelina's Pizzeria. Hmm... If it wasn't Thanksgiving, you would think it was Italian Food Week with all of mom and dad's restaurant choices.

For Thanksgiving, there was lots of food - both American and Chinese! What a strange combination, but I think it worked out well. We had turkey, stuffing, and mashed potatoes alongside roast pork, duck, and cuttlefish.

Isn't it great that we live in a country that is such a melting pot of cultures?

Dad is learning to speak a lot of Cantonese these days. Once, he asked Gramma P if she had paint (instead of oil) for cooking, but he did really well most of the time! Gramma and Grampa P are mighty proud of daddy.

After dinner, everyone played mahjong - just like the Pilgrims used to do.

Poor mommy. Dad was nice to not gloat. He knows all the Chinese numbers in mahjong, but mom doesn't. Being Chinese apparently doesn't help her at all. Thankfully, Grampa P made her a cheat sheet.

Zelda and I don't know how to play mahjong, so we tried making angel shapes in the mahjong tiles. They were too big and heavy, so that wasn't too much fun. Plus, we were getting in the way.

So we played with the Rock'em Sock'em set that Gramma P bought us at Hallmark. I am now a Rock'em Sock'em master and beat Zelda 87 to 3. She's too nice. I play to win.

Well, regardless of who won or who ate the most or who burped the loudest, I give thanks for family and food and fun! Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

ICE, ICE, Baby

This weekend was the Holiday ICE show at The B Complex in West End. Mom went with Maita and Renee and saw Sarah and Jessica there. Even though there was a lot going on, mom had a chance to chill out with Auntie M for a bit, so all was good.

Mom, Zelda, and I started our day with Maita. Mom and Maita had coffee together in Virginia Highlands at the San Francisco Coffee place.

Mom gave Maita a cupcake, but none for me... Boo. She's just asking for the stinky feet treatment for the next couple of days. I'll be sure to take off my shoes during the car ride to Florida.

After a quick breakfast (and - eh hem - no cupcake for me), Maita was nice to take us to the hair cutting place. The hairs on mom's head were getting unruly and they needed some cutting.

She's been seeing Rachel at Cortex for a while now, but I've seen mom take scissors to her own hair before. Many a mistake has happened because of that.

While mom got primped by Rachel, I waited like a good girl with Maita. We read the latest issue of Dwell together. Pretty pretty nifty nifty.

So then we were on our way to ICE after meeting up with Renee back at Maita's place. Sweet!

This is the second time (I think) that ICE has been at The B Complex. There were lots of picture opportunities there and we took advantage of all of them. After all, doesn't everyone want to see my cute mug in lots of shots?

There were lots of great artists there. Mom especially liked Avie Designs and The Black Apple. She bought cards from both of them. Mom needs more stationary like I need a mole on my back! She has a bajillion cards, stickers, and letters but she can't stop buying more when she sees them. Sheesh.

Inside the warehouse area were lots of cool fixtures. I have no idea why they were there, but they were definitely neat.

Here I am with a concrete horse.

Zelda and Kaede struck a pose on a random booth.

Inside was out and outside was in. There was ivy growing inside.

So then we wandered outside. You can't tell from this picture, but the warehouse windows are really cool.

It seems that one of the artists specializes in concrete. I wonder if the same person that made the horse also made this. Is it a bird bath? I really have no idea.

Zelda found some fake flowers while we were outside. I suppose they are much easier to maintain with the drought and all.

What a huge rock! Of course, being the big sister, I got to sit on it. See? I'm sitting higher than her. I must be the superior sibling.

Now, why in the world did mom find this rusty chair so interesting? I hope I don't need a tetanus shot after this!

Rust must have really caught mom's eye because she wanted this picture too. THREE tetanus shots, please!

I can't tell if this is graffiti or just spray paint on a wall. Hopefully it was just spray paint. If it was graffiti, it wasn't very artful.

One of the last things that we saw was a door with a fire hazard sticker and a bar. I wonder if the bar keeps people in or out... Hmm...

Sunday was a much slower day with lots of house stuff getting done.

Mom and dad finally finished their new laundry room. They went to Ikea, Target, and Home Depot to get all the supplies. It looks SWEET. New paint, new shelves, new lighting, and a NEW Kenmore washer and dryer set! Uh oh, did I suddenly turn into an adult? Why am I excited about laundry?

Here's something better to get excited about... FOOD. Dad made us all black bean cakes and eggs for breakfast. Yum yum.

Almost time for Thanksgiving! Ta-ta for now! I'm off to let out all my pants.

Aloha! Komo Mai, Mr. Norbert!

Rima and Loovee in Hawaii sent Mr. Norbert to Atlanta to live with Zelda and I.

Loovee is Rima's girl and Rima was my first mom! I lived with Rima until I was adopted by my current mom. I do miss the sun and sea breeze of Hawaii. Hopefully, I can visit them someday.

Since Hawaii is so far away, Loovee is my penpal. We send each other lots of hugs and aloha in the mail!

So Mr. Norbert just flew in yesterday and his flappers are still tired. He wasn't too tired to introduce himself to Mr. Brownbear and Mr. Mollibunny, though.

Mr. Brownbear tells me this is how it all went down...

* thud *
Mr. Brownbear: DUDE! Did you hear that?
Mr. Mollibunny: Zzzzz...

Mr. Brownbear: Uhh... What is THAT?
Mr. Mollibunny: Zzzzz...

Mr. Brownbear: Dude, wake up!!!
Mr. Mollibunny: Huh?

Mr. Brownbear: OMG OMG OMG...
Mr. Mollibunny: If we play possum, he might go away.

* muffled screams *
Mr. Norbert: Hoot hoot.

Me: So have you met Mr. Mollibunny and Mr. Brownbear yet?
Mr. Norbert: Hoot hoot.
Me: I wonder where they ran off to...

So that's the beginning of Mr. Norbert's new life with Zelda and I. We sure are happy to have him with us!

P.S. Zelda sends her hugs to you, Becca! Miss Fancy-pants loves her new PJs. (OK - I like them too. I just like making fun of Zelda.)

You're So Vain

Oh, yes... Zelda-pants, you know I'm talking about you!

In fact, I'll sing you a little song...

"You're so vain, you probably think this song is about you."

I caught Zelda trying on new hairstyles at the Clairol site. She says that Betsyjean79 and Glamorfae convinced her to do it. Sure... She just wants me to think that...

She has such STRANGE taste! What do you guys think?

I Snooze I Lose

Lots of stuff happened this weekend, but I was only there for half of it because I was a big sleepyhead!

I was at least awake to try on the new dress that mom made for me using Auntie M's fabric scraps and to herald the arrival of our new Vonvonz Pocket Bunnies.

At first, I couldn't decide which Pocket Bunny would be mine. I ended up with the yellow bunny so that Mr. Chicken would have a friend that matched him.

I was so excited about my new Pocket Bunny that Mr. Chicken and I took a nap with it. I shall call him Mr. Mollibunny. I'm not very creative with names am I?

But then I overslept and didn't get to go with mom and dad on their weekend shopping trip. Zelda-pants went with them though. Boo.

On their day of international eating, their first stop was for Vietnamese noodles at Pho 96. Mom and dad's favorite pho restaurant (Pho 79) moved, so they don't go there anymore. At least Pho 96 is a decent substitute.

Then they went to the Intergalactic Bead Show at the Gwinnett Convention Center to pick up jewelry supplies for mom. She has some Christmas orders and the Art Visions show coming up soon.

Zelda told me that there was an American Girl thing at the convention center too. Pshaw! American Girl... Us Blythe girls are much cuter and way more fun!

After a stop at Fry's Electronics and Batteries Plus, they bought groceries at the Buford Highway Farmers Market.

They brought home all kinds of interesting things like a cherimoya, a mango, pad thai sauce, fried tofu, queso fresco, and Korean dumplings. Mom and dad sure do love food from all over the world.

Speaking of international foods, they then made their second meal stop at Chef Liu. There they had onion cake and Shanghai buns.

And, to finish up the day of international eating, mom and dad had iced bubble coffees from the Mozart Bakery.

Next time, I will have to get up so that I can go with them. A lot can happen while you're sleeping!
